Second vaccine is going into arms
Timeline for 75% vaccinated extended from "early spring" to "early fall"
Demand higher than polls suggested--more polling struggles
Poor supply chain management. Apparently confusion between finished goods and work in process.
New strain is 50% more contagious in the UK
Hospitals increasingly full. In San Mateo our ICU capacity is at 8%...not the worst, but 15% is the threshold for concern and we are well below that.
Holidays. Both boys have been tested. Both are negative. Both quarantined for at least two days before coming home. Wearing masks for an additional two days in the house. Hope that's enough. Overheard someone in a store saying, "I'm just celebrating with my family but my brother is having guests over...I tried to talk him out of it but he says it's worth the risk." I kept my mouth shut but the risk is not just his. The risk is to us. It's selfish behavior. It threatens all of our ability to stay healthy and have access to medical care. That said, I'm sure some could argue that our approach is reckless as well. This free society thing may be overrated.
