Family Time. What turned into a 10 day holiday with Kevin and a four day holiday with Scott is winding down today. The masks are gone. The windows are closed. The heat is still on, the dishwasher is full and despite lots of eating, the refrigerator still feels full. By all accounts we are happy. The test and quarantining has apparently worked. Famous last words? We definitely feel like we've cracked the code on this one. Time will tell. The experts predict that collectively we will have failed even with some individual wins. The forecasts are for double the deaths per day. We are over a death a minute right now across the country. Our hospitalization is at 90% and 20% of that is Covid related. Health care workers are exhausted. It feels like we are entering our darkest days as a society, but what to make of this one familial bubble? Do we have have a plan for a successful Christmas? We'll probably need more TV that we can agree on for that to happen!

Decorations. The most dreaded day of the year is the day I put up the Christmas lights. The total effort is about a 3 hour affair and despite having two grown boys, no one volunteers to help. It should be pointed out that for all that effort, our decorations are unremarkable and while they bring joy to at least one person in the house, that one person is not me. For some reason I don't mid taking the decorations down nearly as much. The holiday spirit always puts us a little off-kilter where our expectations and pleasures are misaligned. Nevertheless, the lights are up, they look reasonably good and now begins a 30 day period where I pray nightly that they won't burn out or otherwise short our fragile electrical system. Bah humbug.

Assassination 2. Heard a new story about a complicated ambush in a traffic that included blacking out traffic cameras and communications. That was superseded by a report that the ambush was from a drone machinegun. All of the "how" is less important. What's more clear to me today that whoever did this did it to block Biden's ability to reestablish the peace agreement that Trump walked away from. If Iran responds, how can Biden extend an olive branch?

Countdown. Our Thanksgiving virus test is done and now we start the two week wait for the report card.
