Winding Down. It's been five days since I last wrote anything. I think that's a sign that this blog is winding down. As I said earlier. this blog won't extend beyond the end of this year. Maybe a new blog will emerge but I'm not feeling it at the moment.

And yet. And yet, I still have a few things on my mind. This president rose to prominence by falsely accusing Barack Obama of not being born in the US. It was false. It was always false. Trump declared that he had important information from his investigation and yet that never materialized. Sound familiar. He lied and manipulated the truth to get into office. His strategy has been to win by beating down others. Either other opponents, others in his party who don't agree 100% with him, or even foreign leaders that don't have an America First mindset. He has tried to manipulate government processes to his own personal benefit and has clearly has broken numerous laws. Now, he is threatening to hold control of the GOP for the next four years with the threat of running again in 2024. Nothing could be worse for this country. Nothing could be worse for Democracy. Forget about Trump and his ability to do what he says he will do (again, he lies about everything), but think about the new set of unwritten rules that Trump has created for future candidates. The ability to attack truth and facts is what will ultimately ruin our democracy. And yet few of his allies stand up or disagree. Trump is only Trump because he is enabled by others. The only way I see our democracy preventing this fundamental failure in the future is to make Trump pay a price. The only way I see emerging as a healthy democracy is if Trump goes to jail. If that happens, it will go down in the history books as proof that no person is above "truth and justice." You might argue about the specific charges but unless he pays a substantial price our democracy will be soiled forever.

Virus. All the numbers look bad. All the numbers look worse than ever. The vaccines look better than we could have imagined. We should all be vaccinated by June. We should be past this by 2022. We will survive, but the next year, by all predications, will be dark.
