August. The months start to blur a bit. August, a time for vacations, ends today with nothing resembling a vacation. We enter our 7th month of semi-isolation. When the car dealer offered me a variety of extra services I passed on all of them. They were all bound by miles AND dates. When I did the math, it's not clear to me how many miles I might put on the car in the next two years. I really don't plan to work in an office environment any time soon. I passed on all the optional service and plan to simply look at my new car in the driveway instead of grinding away on the roads every morning. I suspect that the world won't look dramatically different by August of next year. Hopefully there will be vacations. There will be social gatherings. But for now it feels like I'm midway through a multiple year jail sentence.
