I spoke to my grandmother last night just to catch up.
She mentioned she had been to the foot doctor. I asked her if she went
often. The answer was that she has been going regularly since she first came
to Los Angeles. She pointed out that she always took great pride in her
feet.
I remember that my other grandmother used to go to the
podiatrist on a regular basis as well. Hmmm, I'm almost 45 and have never
seen a foot doctor. Does one go to get a foot check up? When I pointed out
that I had never been, my grandmother she seemed to imply that normal people
went to the foot doctor.
I mentioned that I went to the dermatologist this week
and that he sliced off two unseen moles off my back. She told me that she
had never been to a dermatologist. I replied that I went at least once every
two years and that they always found something curious. She told me that's
the reason she won't go.
Who am I to argue with the medical practices of a healthy
99 year old? Maybe the secret to living a long and healthy life is all
about the feet.
