Tech Challenge

Build a device that can land in a Mars crater and climb its way out.  That was this year's assignment for the 20th annual Tech Challenge where 5-8th graders played the role of engineers and scientists. The boys designed a device that could survive a 12 foot free fall and then climb up a 6 foot ramp.  While the device worked perfectly for the dry runs, like many space missions something went wrong.  The team, however, regrouped and after the competition gave it another try and succeeded. So no prizes this year but plenty of pride.
