Treasure Hunting

Geocaching is a treasure hunting game using a handheld GPS navigational system.  After logging into the website and searching on nearby "caches" we entered the longitude and latitude on our electronic divining rod and we were off.  Our first stop put us on a steep mountain climb and we were quickly frustrated by our inability to get where the arrow pointed. We were batting 0 for 2 after our second stop, along a busy roadway, seemed to have no possible place to hide a treasure (we would return later to find it within arm's reach). Our first find came in the park near our house on a cache that we had passed hundreds of times over the three years its been hidden. We learned from the website that non-cachers are called "muggles" and we were proud of our new non-muggle status. Our fourth stop produced a huge cache and we retrieved a traveling item. It's now our responsibility to help move the item a little bit closer to its Hawaii destination.

After a day of geocaching under our belts, we decided we needed to create a cache of our own.  We carefully planned out the contents of our own treasure and double checked our coordinates.  Within hours of posting our cache, we had our first visitor whose web log included a friendly note back.

We're hooked!
