The San Carlos Amazing Race 2005
On Sunday, September 19th, ten teams of four set out to win the fourth annual running of the San Carlos Amazing Race. The teams began their daylong journey in San Carlos, CA at 11am and spent over six hours solving 25 clues and as many crazy tasks in a race for the finish line at Sunnyvale's Comedy Club, Rooster T. Feathers.
The race hosts and racers collectively raised almost $10,000 for the the San Carlos School District.
After the second clue the Dazed and Confused team was running dead last, but by the race's end their time and extra credit points put them in first place.

Here's how it worked!
The race required teams to solve clues and complete tasks while racing against time to an unknown destination.

The Tasks
After arriving at each destination, teams were asked to complete a variety of tasks. Here are just a few examples:
San Carlos Trivia. Teams began the race answering San Carlos Trivia questions.
Packing Peanut Nightmare. Teams searched through boxes of packing peanuts in hunt of a single purple peanut.
Clean your plate. Each team was forced to consume their entire lunch before receiving their next clue...that's 10 PB&J sandwiches, 28 cookies, 20 carrots and a gallon of milk. This task was hated by all.
Water Polo. Teams had to score a goal on one of San Carlos' top water polo players.
Onion Chop. Teams had to chop onions to the chef's requirements.
Bean Count. Teams had to count over 1100 pinto beans and determine the exact number.
Paper or Plastic. Teams had a choice of replicating a Lego building or building a four story house of cards.
Trot and Spot. Teams were sent climbing up the Eaton Trail and once at the top they had to scan the vista for the San Carlos Amazing Race flag for the location of their next clue.
Doing Time with the Crime. Teams studied a crime scene and then had to answer questions based on their observations.
More Trivia. Teams were asked to complete their kids' homework and answer more trivia questions as they drove around town.
And many more...
