My father's day began at 7:45 Sunday morning.  Despite a brief trip to the bathroom, my head returned to my soft and warm pillow for a few precious moments of shut eye.  Kevin was there bright and cheery, as he always is first thing in the morning, ready for the day.  It was a day of baseball and then some more baseball.

Kevin began by reading me the Sports page of the Mercury News.  My eyes still closed he read the article on the Giants and quickly answered my questions concerning statistics and standings.  Scott arrived a few minutes later equally cheery...certainly not the norm for this hour.  Scott was clutching a custom breakfast in bed menu expressly for me.

An omelet with thick slices of onions, the way ONLY I like it, was the highlight as I eased my eyes into the day.  There were presents including a 900 page bathroom reader and cards and morning chat for the few moments we had before heading off to Day 3 of Scottie's baseball tournament.  His team, San Carlos Blue, won two games Friday and another two Saturday to join the top 8 teams for Father's Day play.

Scottie's team went on to win three straight games and his team was crowned champion of Cupertino's 7th Annual U8 Little League Tournament.  His team bested the likes of teams from San Jose, Santa Cruz and even our San Carlos sister team.

The championship game was a 7 to 6 nail biter.  Scott punched some big hits, collected his share of RBIs and played a range of positions including a dependable 2nd base.

Dad and brother Kevin were the official score keepers for the team although Kevin slowly kept edging Dad out of the job.  He even seemed to bond with the other coaches a bit better than Dad did.
