Squaw Valley Ski Week

We had a sun filled week where it reached as low as 7 degrees one night and hit the mid 50s as it warmed over the course of the week. Both boys made significant improvements...Kevin now prefers "expert" runs hunting for steeper slopes and bigger moguls. Scottie makes solid turns and complains that the Squaw Valley masters mistakenly label his favorite runs as "advanced" when he declares that they are easy. Greg "tweaked" his knee with his first ever acknowledged skiing injury although he notes that he never actually fell nor missed a moment of skiing (and he is still paying for that). This year we took a dog sledding adventure across the valley floor. We also brushed up a bit on Squaw Valley history and learned of its origins including the answer to the question that no doubt is burning in all of your minds...how did KT22 get its name? Answer: After climbing the mountain back in the 40s, they counted "22 Kick Turns" to reach the bottom.  And finally, each year we see something new. This year of note was the business man skiing down an advanced run with two poles in one hand talking away on his cell phone the whole way down.
